What prompted you to start proud of you?

I spend so much of my workday on the computer (on Zoom calls, writing, researching, sending emails, and creating social content for my side job). It’s meaningful, but I’ve been craving more experiences and connections that exist off the screen. Something slower, more tactile.

Part of the inspiration came from a birthday gift I received in college from my best friend Michael, who lived in another state at the time. He decided to send me a postcard every day for a year. Every single day, I looked forward to opening my mailbox to a one-of-a-kind postcard waiting for me. I still have them all. It’s one of the most meaningful gifts I’ve ever been given, and the thoughtfulness of it has stayed with me.

I’ve always loved the ritual of checking the mailbox and finding something unexpected and meaningful. Something that connects, teaches, or simply reminds you that someone is thinking of you. Proud of You is a way for me to bring that kind of feeling into the world. I hope it feels thoughtful, nostalgic, and like a small antidote to the loneliness so many of us carry. A way to feel connected, seen, and gently encouraged even from afar.

I'd also be remiss not to mention other meaningful mail subscriptions that exist. I am definitely not the first, and highly recommend checking out the below (and if you know of more, I'd love to hear about them:

Poem Club - Poem Club is an ongoing mail poetry project created by artist & poet Brittany V Wilder. Her writing and design is so incredible beautiful. I also wanted to give a special shout-out to Brittany for sharing so much about Poem Club over on TikTok. I have been daydreaming about how to move away from only offering digital downloads of my educational work, and the wisdom she's shared from her experience gave me a gentle nudge to actually move it from living only in my brain to exiting for real.

The Flower Letters - I love the idea behind these letters. The involve storytelling through pages of personal letters sent between characters to immerse you into the story.

Catdroool Club - When you subscribe, you receive original risograph-printed art in the mail every month. Hannah also recently launched an art vending machine!

How much does it cost?

The mail subscription costs $7 each month (+$2 for international shipping).

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! The shipping just costs a little extra.

Will I be charged automatically each month?

Yes, but you can cancel your subscription at any time through the link in your confirmation email. If you have any trouble, feel free to reach out, and I can help!

How do I change my shipping address?

You can change your shipping address through the link in your confirmation email. You can also email me if you need additional help.

I signed up right before the 10th and was charged again on the 10th—was I double charged?

Great question! When you sign up for Proud of You, your first $7 payment is processed immediately to reserve your first mailing. All subscriptions are set to renew on the 10th of each month, so if you sign up just before then, you may see another $7 charge on the 10th. This charge covers the next month’s letter and ensures your subscription stays active.

You're not being double charged—just brought into the regular monthly billing cycle! If you'd prefer to skip a month or need help adjusting your subscription, you can use the link in your confirmation email to adjust or cancel. Feel free to email me if you need any additional help!

What will I be receiving each month?

Each month will include a unique letter that features encouragement and practices that support positive change. Some examples: writing, research, exercises, reflection prompts, and/or tools for improving self-worth, stress, burnout, self-doubt, feelings of helplessness, connection to yourself and others, and more. I'm looking forward to exploring new ideas and topics each month!

If I sign up too late, is there still a way to get the letters from previous months digitally?

At the moment, the letters are only available through snail mail. Part of the thought behind Proud of You is that it’s designed to live offscreen. I want each envelope to feel like a small, intentional pause.

That said, I’m always reflecting on ways to expand or revisit past themes. If I do decide to share earlier letters in a digital format or compile them somewhere, I’ll be sure to announce it. And if you have any ideas or thoughts for me, I'd love to hear from you
